Author / Writer

I write with a passion for connecting people to the truth of who God is. I work to convey the amazing grace God has for all of us. I want people to know the complete unconditional love and acceptance God has for us. Every living soul is a child of God without exception, but there are too many out there who call themselves Christians who want us to think there are conditions,
but there are none!
God forgives you. God accepts you.
God loves you, period.

This conviction is at the core of all my writing, preaching and work with addiction.

“The Pastor,” is a novel about a small-town pastor who confronts a mystery surrounding the death of a member of his congregation. The main character, Pastor Brian Matterson, leads a community called All Saints Lutheran Church in Martin Valley, a suburb of Minneapolis.

Brian, a recovering alcoholic, is trying to handle various everyday challenges with good humor when tragedy strikes: A member of his congregation, Candy Vinter, has hanged herself in her family home.

When he visits the family he senses something secret underneath the surface of their grief. After police investigate further, Brian finds himself wondering if Candy killed herself of if she was murdered.

Available in hardback, soft cover, Kindle, Nook book and Audiobook.

Treat, a Lutheran pastor himself, portrays Brian’s world with three-dimensional texture so that even the daily details of life at All Saints become surprisingly gripping reading.”

The Pastor was a refreshing find. It is unusual to find a clean, funny, uplifting, positive, suspenseful read. I loved the prayers the pastor offers throughout the book. It increased my faith in God and made me want to help people around me more. I highly recommend this book!”

In my first book, “Our Stories of Experience, Strength & Hope!” I bring together stories from ELCA & LCMS Lutheran clergy who share their personal journey of alcoholism, addiction and codependency and how they discovered healing through the Twelve Step program of recovery and the Fellowship of Recovering Lutheran Clergy.

This book was written by clergy, for clergy. We wanted struggling clergy to know they are not alone and that there is life after death.
Everybody drank. It was the Lutheran thing to do. I figured I was the same kind of drinker as every other pre-minister student.”
